Podiatry Insoles and Orthotics

At Tooronga Podiatry we are all about education and getting you involved in your treatment as best as possible. We aim to keep information to an appropriate level, some patients want us to explain the absolute fundermantals of their issue, and other just want a brief over view. In our mind, both are correct and we aim to help you as best as we can.

Here is an example of our education surrounding the use of insoles which may form part of your treatment program.

Wear in Period

To allow your feet time to adjust, we suggest wearing your orthotics in gradually. To begin with, it is best to wear them for 2-3 hours a day of the course of the week building up to wearing them full time.

How to Clean them

We recommend that you clean them periodically to prolong their life and keep them fresh. It is best to use warm water combined with a mild detergent or simply use an antibacterial wipe to clean dirt and debris from the top cover. Do not put them in the washing machine. If your orthotics get wet, take them out of your shoes and allow them to air dry, this will prevent mould and smelly odours from developing.

Orthotic review

Typically we will book a review appointment 1 month after issuing you with your orthotics so we can check in and make sure all is well. But as always, if you need to see use earlier we are always here to help.
